81% of teachers believe that using upcoming technology enriches classroom learning and increases student engagement. With a big majority of teachers experiencing first-hand how powerful and enhancing technology can be, what technology is the future of education and why is it so beneficial?  Education is has been and is continually trending towards the diverse use of technology and all of its man applications. E-Learning, for example, uses multimedia, dynamic and engaged storytelling, and even VR to engage and increase retention of educational material.  

Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality is a computer-based experience that is typically used through a helmet or glasses that gives you the effect of being somewhere or in a certain situation that you can interact with directly. Educators and companies are using Virtual Reality as a crucial tool in teaching trainees and students. Researchers have found that educators have seen increased engagement levels and improved test scores from usage. Virtual Reality can transport students to anywhere in the world to give them the experience while still being at home or in the classroom.

Employers are starting to use this as a vital training tool to teach trainees about the company and customer service scenarios without having to disrupt current operations. Walmart is one of the best examples of using this as a training program. Soon, they will have all 200 of their training centers using Virtual Reality, which will train a total of 150,000 employees every year.

E-Books

The rise of e-books has continued to rise due to the many benefits of them. Not only do e-Books reduce costs (50-60% to be exact) they save storage space and grant easy access. A great thing about e-books that you can not get in a traditional form is the ability to easily search through a search bar. If you are looking for something specific in the book, you can easily search keywords that will bring up instant results. Another helpful tool that all e-books possess is the ability to accommodate more learning styles. Some are interactive, for learners who learn through doing, and almost all provide the option of reading the text to you. This has changed education for all of the benefits listed and assists in improving the quality of education.

Multi-Touch LCD Screens

Multi-touch LCD screens are a big tablet-like touchscreen used in replacement of whiteboards and chalkboards in the classroom. In the past, these screens have only had the ability to use one person using the touch screen at a time, but now they have the ability to have multiple different people editing at the same time. Not only being able to have multi-touch, the screen can also be edited from different devices. A key difference between using traditional boards and the touch boards is that they also have the ability to download or create templates to edit or add to for teaching purposes.

Cloud-Based Education

Cloud-based education is any form of education that is taught or stored on the internet and can be accessed from any device. A wonderful component of cloud-based education is that you can participate in courses from a computer anywhere in the world. It provides easy usage and the ability to create and utilize different programs to further education. Not only is it convenient, e-Learning also serves as a way to help all students succeed by the ability to view lectures and documents multiple times, which is not possible in a standard classroom setting.

These different forms of technology are just a small glimpse of how education will be changed from now to the future.Including technology developments in our education systems will not only raise success in the classrooms and businesses but will promote top-level learning and give students more opportunities to get more engaged in what is being taught. The future is technology and it is vital that we use that to our advantage.
